The Itinerary

Welcome to the Historical Birthplace of Sydney and Australia, the Rocks. The colloquial name given to the precinct after the English arrived in 1788 and began constructing their homes from the plentiful Sandstone Rock available in the area.

Fast forward to today and the Rocks is now a vibrant and charming area to discover, retaining many of its original convict built buildings and laneways. The best way to explore is on foot. Your guide will meet you at your hotel this morning before heading out onto George Street. The original street in Sydney houses many convict built buildings. We pass by Australia’s very first hotel, The Fortune of War, where your guide will explain of its infamous past. Continuing along George Street we pass by Sydney’s first bank and Sydney’s first Police Station. From here enter nurses walk, a path taken by the colony’s first hospital staff. Here discover some of the secret laneways used by gangs or ‘The Push”. You will see ballast used from the original first fleet to make pathways. Walk through “Suers Canal” to see where the Rocks was divided into 2.

From here you will pass by Campbell’s Storehouse and General Majors Row before arriving at Millers Point. At Millers Point your guide will explain why there is an English Village set in the heart of Sydney.

From here proceed through the Argyll Cut before arriving back at George Street where you may like to leave your guide to do some more exploring otherwise be escorted back to your hotel.
